Amazing. The handshake thing happened to me just last night. Fortunately we didn't actually shake, my hand stopped about 2" from his. Afterwards I realized that some people have a thing for giving mixed signals (is it an offer to shake, or a wave?). They do it for their own reasons, which can't be good ones. So how to deal with people like that.
